Definitions
Apiary Site/Bee Site
Is a place where a group of hives are kept. Kuyan Apiaries have between 80 to 120 hives placed for a period of time at each site depending on how good the pollen and honey flow is.
We pay a lease fee per year to the Western Australian Government, Department of Conservation and Land Management otherwise known as CALM. These sites are situated in Western Australia's National Forests and Conservation Reserves.
We also have apiary sites on privately owned land.
Bee Hive
Two or three boxes stacked on top of each other, which contain 8 -10 frames per box with foundation (wax) and bees.
A Colony of Bees
Consisting of one queen bee, drones (male bee) and worker bees (all females)
Production from a Hive
Queen bee breeding, bee packages for export, collection of Honey, Honey Comb, Pollen, Wax, Propolis and Royal Jelly
